Comparing the environmental impact of poultry manure and chemical fertilizers

One of the challenges in livestock production is significant volume manure generated, which must be appropriately managed to mitigate its environmental impacts. Untreated poses a potential hazard soil, surface water, groundwater, and human animal health. Based on life cycle assessment (LCA) method, research aims evaluate ecological load composted-pelletized poultry litter (CPPL) maize winter wheat production. Furthermore, loads CPPL applications are compared with those other N, P, K fertilizers. The study utilized openLCA software Agribalyse 3.1 database calculate eleven impact categories. In case maize, only ozone depletion has higher emissions. For production, scenarios where P fertilizer was MAP had lower impacts for NPK combinations. While CPPL, fuel main contributor loads, scenarios, energy use contributed more. results can relevant burdens using different nutrient replacement products creating diverse feed mixtures. application promises reduce burden crop and, consequently, Additionally, it allows recovery not useable by industry.
